prompt: favorite weather

usually it was not the heat — last summer was a summer of
new music and new feeling, which is rare. how is this — followed, or even
improved upon. washed in the carcass of current weather, the desert
waits. it sits in a wide circle and observes. eight dollars in my bank account four hundred
and ninety-four on credit cards. these are the domestic struggles that kill
young love. i remember in a documentary joan didion was asked if her husband was offended
that she wrote so frankly about their doom, she said no he understands that you
write about what you have. i did not think i could be
that cruel, now i understand it is about survival of the self.
